Server Update

It’s been a few weeks since any news has been posted so I thought I would just fill everyone in on what has been going on an what is happening in the future here. This month has been pretty good, we have had a few new users and are now hosting sites on four domains (going on a fifth once I feel like moving techwars.org here). The www site (news, etc) is also coming along, hopefully with some more updates soon. (You can contribute too, just mail me, shadowarts@localhost, or felix, felix@localhost, or catch one of us on #shadowarts in irc.freenode.net).

I have also been working on some things in the background, in which I’m jokingly calling “Service Pack 1.” Anyway, expect fully working subversion system soon, with anonymous access, online browsing and ssh access for developers. You might have already seen some of this but, if not now you know. I am also going to be adding a few new features to user-admin (it isn’t that great right now). To go with subversion ssh access there will be a new ssh key submit feature, so you can use subversion with public keys without having to need your password several times (also nice for plain logins). Also a backup/restore system will soon be done, you will be able to get tarballs of all your files on the server to easily manage backup. You will also be able to restore from a tarball (more like just extracting it into your home directory). The user-admin project could use some help in making it better, if you are interested in working on it, contact me (shadowarts@localhost).
